The El Paso District Attorney’s Office is reviving a dedicated unit to tackle domestic violence cases in our community. District Attorney Bill Hicks announced that state and federal grants totaling $1 million will fund this important initiative.

Hicks stated, “Through a combination of federal and state grants, I’ve secured enough funding for a chief, a senior trial attorney, two victim advocates, and an investigator.” This unit is expected to be operational by December 2024 and aims to visit victims within 24 hours of an offense, addressing about 2,000 cases a year.

Join the DA’s office on Sunday, Oct. 27, for the annual Crime Victims Walk!
The five-mile walk starts at Ascarate Park at 7 AM and concludes at Ralph T. Cloud Park on Williamette Avenue. Registration is free!
