What’s in our air?
El Paso’s air is full of tiny particles called PM 2.5. These particles are so small we can’t see them, but they get into our lungs and can cause:

Who’s at risk?
Pregnant women
and young children
are especially at risk!

But there’s more to the story…
Juarez (just across the border) is a major part of the pollution problem!

They burn old tires, many of which come from the U.S.
These tire fires release toxic chemicals that make our air even worse:

Why isn’t anyone talking about Juarez’s pollution?

Their tire fires are directly affecting our air quality too!
What’s being done about it?
Last year, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar announced the Climate Crisis Advisory Committee (CCAC) to tackle pollution and the climate crisis.
But since then… nothing significant has changed.

Where’s the improvement, El Paso?
What can we do to fix this?
We need to work with Juarez to stop illegal tire burning and find better ways to recycle and safely use those tires.
