Lantern-lit Mine Tour at Franklin Mountains State Park

Step back in time and explore the copper prospecting mine by lantern light.
Join your park ranger turned turn-of-the-century guide on a historical exploration of an old mine shaft in the Franklin's.
We will meet at the West Cottonwood Springs Trailhead in the Tom Mays unit of Franklin Mountains State Park.
There will be four tours leaving throughout the day starting at 8:30 am, 11:00 am, 1:30 pm, and 3:30 pm respectively.
Reservations required; to reserve your spot, call the office at (915) 566-6441.
*Note* Due to the small size of this mine, only 15 participants are allowed per tour.
Bring: water, flashlights, snacks, hiking boots/shoes, and comfortable clothes (or costume).
Optional: climbing/biking helmet or hardhat, hiking stick, camera, and a map.
Fee: $5 for adults 13 years old and up; $0 for Texas State Park Pass holders and children 12 and under.
Directions:
From Westside on I-10, take exit 6 & travel east towards the mountains for 3.8 miles. Park entrance will be on the left.
From Eastside on Hwy 54, take exit 29 towards Transmountain Rd, travel west 7-7.5 miles over/through the mountains. Park entrance will be on the right.
If using a GPS be sure to search for “Tom Mays Access Road,” not “Franklin Mountains State Park.
