We are very thankful for your continued support of the Institute. Please join us to celebrate moving to a permanent home next to the Hotel Indigo in downtown El Paso.
Some people ask why the Tom Lea Institute is influential beyond preserving the art and writings of iconic artist Tom Lea? In an era where many people are not familiar with their own history, Tom Lea’s art and writing illuminate the unique beauty of our culture and roots. Additionally, it spurs heritage tourism and economic development in rural communities along the Tom Lea Trail.
Many students lack a sense of place and feel isolated from their community. That’s why the character development component of our curricula, based on the life of Tom Lea, makes such an impact. Our curricula, embedded in elementary, middle, and high schools, demonstrably create a sense of belonging and pride crucial to students’ success.
We look forward to seeing you at our celebration, on a walking tour, or at one of our events along the Tom Lea Trail.
