Keeping Sun Metro in Our Prayers El Paso, our city is facing a heartbreaking loss. A devastating fire engulfed the Sun Metro Transit Operations Center, leaving the garage in ruins. The roof and walls collapsed, and more importantly, three mechanics were seriously injured—one had to be airlifted to Lubbock’s burn unit. Please keep them and their families in your prayers.
This wasn’t LNG—it was CNG, which burns much hotter. The fire has shown just how vital this facility was. It was the heart of our public transportation system—where buses were fueled, repaired, and maintained. Now, all tools, equipment, and supplies are gone. Rebuilding will take time, and the entire community will feel the impact.
Service Impacts Due to the fire, Sun Metro Fixed and Brio routes will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule from Wednesday, February 12, through Wednesday, February 19. Riders should prepare for possible delays.
